About The Pierswell Press

With extensive backgrounds as performers on stage, radio and television, as well as teaching both singing and acting, and publishing stories, poetry, songs, and articles on the protection of the environment, Joan and Mike Maloney decided to start their own publishing company, The Pierswell Press. Their goal was to create and publish literature and music that was not only stimulating, adventurous and fun, but was also expressive of respect and reverence for all living things. Optimism and hope are the guidelines for The Pierswell Press, which was named after their much-loved old English mastiff, Piers, who, at 230 pounds, was one of the biggest mastiffs in Canada and a true gentle giant.

As well as heading up The Pierswell Press, Joan and Mike continue to appear on stage and television, giving dramatic readings of The Butterfly Tree and concert performances, including performances of Joan's cycle of 15 songs on the life of Christ, entitled Behold the Man!
